RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all duties that are considered routine duties of a RN.
Function autonomously and in collaboration with other health professionals to provide high quality, cost effective advanced nursing care.
Manage health care systems and influence health care decision-making through expert clinical reasoning, research and theory-based practice.
Demonstrate clinical expertise and expanded knowledge in the care of high risk infants.
Develop/participate in appropriate educational systems and programs to meet the continuing education needs of staff and families.
Provide formal education and comprehensive teaching strategies to both internal and external groups.
Provide formal orientation and education for nursing staff/students.
Mentor staff/students in aspects of advanced nursing practice and patient care.
Actively participate in research and integrate research-based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision making.
Assume a leadership role in professional activities and organizations, advancing the profession through presentations and publications.
Participate in policy development and unit/departmental/divisional or hospital committees/task forces.
Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS:
Clinically focused MSN from an accredited college of nursing.
Current licensure as an IL Advanced Practice Nurse.
APN certification by a national certifying body as approved by the IL Department of Regulation APN Board
2 to 5 years of clinical experience in a Level III NICU.
PREFERRED/DESIRED:
Demonstrated ability to lead complex change projects.
Experience designing competency and educational activities.
Ability to apply evidence based clinical knowledge to the patient care setting. Experience in nursing research.
Well developed communication skills and analytical ability.
