Position Summary
We are looking for an Associate SEO Director to lead a team of 4-6 dedicated SEO specialists in the optimization of our clients' digital content. This position requires more than just an SEO expert: Our ideal candidate also possesses a strong understanding of paid search and digital media, and understands how to integrate natural search into broader media strategies to deliver against our clients' business goals. Dynamic leadership skills are a must - this person will also be the "face" of SMG Search's growing SEO practice and work with the management team to further grow and enhance SMG Search's position as a leader in the SEO space.
Specific Responsibilities
The Work:
- The Associate SEO Director will be accountable for developing SEO strategies and overseeing their execution to ensure that client goals are met and exceeded:
- Defining priority content and keywords for optimization based on client objectives
- Identifying and Building Linking Strategy for client
- Provide web usability analysis to improve overall user experience
- Identifying opportunities to improve overall website visibility by working closely with client side web development team
- Recognizing opportunities to break through the natural search clutter with new or enhanced content, and selling ideas to appropriate stakeholders
- Proactively identifying marketplace trends and making necessary adjustments to strategies
- This person will take the lead in establishing best practices and educating clients
- Establish and lead relationships with clients' web development teams and agencies
- Educate the above external teams on SEO best practices and establish processes for creating new content that will immediately be visible to search engines
- He or she will work with a Search Director to develop internal processes for SEO education and developing best-of-breed SEO practices
- This individual will also work with a Search Director to manage profitability of SEO accounts
The People:
- This individual will be responsible for overseeing a team of dedicated SEO Analysts who have 0-3 years experience. He or she will stimulate team productivity and growth by:
- Facilitating formal training to new team employees
- Providing education on overall Search industry landscape and best practices
- Allocating team assignments to make productive and effective use of each person's skills, as well as motivating their interests and challenging their minds
- Providing ongoing feedback and conduct employee evaluations consistent with SMG's formal evaluation process
The Client:
- The Associate SEO Director will maintain productive relationships with high-level clients, and be looked to as their unquestioned resource for SEO expertise
- This individual will also work daily with clients' web development teams and agencies to ensure flawless execution of natural search strategies
Required Skills, Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree
- 4+ years of Search and/or Digital media experience
- At least 3 years dedicated to SEO
- Experience in applying search marketing to both brand-building & direct response initiatives
- In-depth knowledge of SEO practices and concepts
- Meta optimizations
- Linking strategies
- Copy re-writes
- URL strategies
- Website Usability
- Content distribution
- Code revisions (Flash & Javascript workarounds, basic HTML programming)
- Strong command of search engine research and reporting resources
- Knowledge of syndicated research tools such as ComScore, Hitwise, AdGooroo and WordTracker
- Knowledge of SEO tools such as Web Position Gold
- Knowledge of Web Analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Omniture and CoreMetrix
- Familiarity with third-party ad serving and bid tool companies
- Technical proficiency, particularly with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and math proficiency
